In Sun’s rather dull SEC filing, (I read it, paint dried), it was disclosed that Oracle made a run at the company looking to buy just the software. Lots of promises about strategic alliances with the wreckage of what was left. Sun’s board told to go jump. Their second offer was for the entire company and it’s stated that they plan on running Sun as subsidiary. Or maybe that’s just the parts which bleed money. I’m guessing there won’t be a hands off approach taken to something like Java.
